The Puppeteers' Cooperative was founded in San Francisco in 1976 by Sara Peattie and George Konnoff. It is now based in Boston, MA, where they operate The Puppet Library from the back of Emmanuel Church, and where their puppets can be seen regularly at protests, parades, and processionals.
