What is the Bread + Puppet Press? How are you related to Bread + Puppet Theater?

The Bread + Puppet Theater was founded by Peter and Elka Schumann in the early sixties in the Lower East Side. Elka established the press in the early eighties, nearly a decade after they moved to rural Vermont. The B+P Press makes circus flags, printed costumes, circus posters, and more, for the theater. Is this item available? When will it be back in stock? Can you make X item for me?

We are a small team in rural Vermont. We produce all of our handprinted and/or painted banners, posters, letterpress books, and cards in our print shop with the help of volunteers using masonite cuts carved by Peter Schumann. What is available on the website of these items is often all that we have. There are many items and crowd favorites that will always be in the queue to reprint and others that are not. We do our best to accommodate requests but, as these are printed and painted in batches, we do not make individually requested banners/posters/etc.

I received my order of a hand printed/painted item. It doesn't look exactly like the photos. What happened?

We make all of our hand printed and painted posters, letterpress books, and banners in our small print shop in Glover. Due to the handmade nature of these items, variation is expected. Consider your purchase one-of-a-kind :)

Where is my item? When will it ship?

Please allow our team 3-5 business days to fulfill your item and receive your tracking number. Sometimes, items will be shipped faster, but they will always be shipped within 3-5 business days.

I received part of my order, where is the rest?

Due to the varying shapes and sizes of items we ship, sometimes, your order is sent in two separate packages. They do not always arrive at the same time, but should arrive in the same shipping window as quoted by your tracking. 

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we do! We ship internationally to all countries available through Shopify's shipment platform. The most affordable option is often First Class Mail Int'l USPS. This does not offer tracking, unfortunately. At this time, we do not offer free shipping on international orders. For international orders, customers are responsible for all import taxes or fees shipment may incur. 

I need to cancel my order/ I want to add something to my order/ General order issues/inquiries.

I want to visit the print shop. What are the best ways to do so?

Our weekly volunteer sessions are one of the best ways to have an in-person experience at our print shop. We host open volunteer sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays. Check our Volunteer page for up to date information or reach out to volunteers@breadandpuppetpress.org with any questions. 

How do I carry Bread + Puppet Press stock at my retail business?

We accept new retailers on a rolling basis. Reach out to outreach@breadandpuppetpress.org to get the ball rolling.
