Based on a Cantastoria (a centuries old street theater form of storytelling via a sequence of images on banners or scrolls) The Foot is an endearing—and enduring—parable about the simple joys of life in the face of looming hardship and oppression.
The play was created specifically for the massive nuclear disarmament rally in New York City in 1982, and has been performed scores of times in cities and towns across the globe.
The book features some crowd favorite cuts! Such as "and we eat and we drink" And concludes, "don't let the big foot crush you! protest and survive!"
Original masonite cuts by Peter Schumann. Initially letterpress set and hand printed, by Elka Schumann and Lila Winstead, in house, at our printshop in Glover, Vermont. Now offset printed nearby!
