Each of these formative publications address the origins and processes of the Bread and Puppet Theater. Full-page, carefully executed pen and ink drawings illustrate The Radicality of Puppet Theater which juxataposes Low-Art puppetry with High-Art theater and movies, in sometimes enlightening, sometimes impenetrable prose. In String-Puller Philosophy, the director of the Institute International de Marionette in Charleville-Mézieres asked Peter Schumann to write about puppetry; this book was the result.
